About — Alan Brown | ICM & Creative Photography
Based in Burlington, Vermont, I explore motion, light, and abstraction as a form of creative expression.
My work has been featured in photography publications and shared through online interviews, camera club presentations, and guides exploring the inventive potential of this approach to photography.
Today my work centers on Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), a creative approach where deliberate motion transforms familiar scenes into abstract, impressionistic interpretations. Rather than seeking sharp detail, I am drawn to emotion, gesture, and atmosphere, using camera movement and long exposure techniques to create images that suggest rather than document.
Through my photography, I invite viewers to experience mood, movement, and interpretation. Techniques such as ICM allow me to explore the space between reality and abstraction, where emotion often becomes more important than detail.
