Taking a lakeside hike I stumbled across this tree - it is a tree I had passed many times taking the same hike, but likely not considered picture-worthy due to a distracting background.
So what was different this day? - the weather! Gently falling drizzle helped form a wonderful backdrop to the image, removing all distractions. It also allows us to focus on the wonderful form of the tree and appreciate the way it has eked out an existence in such a harsh environment.
BTW - as I was expecting rain throughout I did not take my primary camera that day. Instead this was shot with the camera I keep with me at all times - my mobile phone!
As Wayne Gretsky famously remarked, “ You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” so it’s best to be prepared for the opportunity. Who knew Wayne was a photographer…… :-)
